June in General Certification. Has anyone used CBT nuggets for Certification training? If so, has it helped with you receiving your certification? ITSpectre Member Posts: 1, June Some of the videos are dry and boring.

Cybrary is good too it depends on what cert you are studying for. I get it paid for by work and like it. I think Pluralsight does a great job as well.

If I had to choose, I would look at what certification I was going for, then look up when that course was created on each site want to make sure it is as up to date as possible and look up the person who teaches the courses then decide.

I don't think there is a "best" one stop shop when looking for whats best. Yeah, as NetworkNewb said, it depends who teaches the course. But not every teacher is the same. Whether or not you'll like a course will often depend on the teacher, and also whether your personality type and learning style meshes with that teacher.

I've read some people don't like Jeremy's style because he's so fast and ADD. But for me, he helps keep me engaged. Verities Member Posts: 1, Chinook Member Posts: CBT Nuggets does have some good instructors but there are also some that go off on tangents and are downright annoying CBT Nuggets content very much depends on the instructor, they have some excellent ones and some terrible ones. Keith Barker the networking guy is 1st class IMO.

In my mind there are 3x main players in the online training space CBT, Pluralsight and INE, each of which have their own strong area's.

August It's hit and miss. There are many different courses by many different instructors so the quality varies widely compared to CBT Nuggets. Find something with a lot of good reviews. An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made. For the price Udemy is great. I would compare it to youtube. Some content is good and some is not you just have a sample a few and find an instructor you like.

If cost is an issue I would say definitely give it a try. A bit OT but did you checkout the courses on Cybrary? There are several good teachers and Authors who give you a ton of lecture and labs to easily follow.

If cbt wasnt a costly monthly subscription i may give them a nudge. However i have not found it worth it.So, my company is tossing around the idea of CBT Nuggets training subscriptions and I was asked to write a small explanation of why this would, or would not, be a good investment.

CBT NUGGETS worth it?

I have used a set of videos from them to study for CCNA, but I don't have any knowledge of their full subscription. If anyone can offer up some useful pros and cons it would be helpful. In the meantime, I will be checking out their website more in depth.

Thanks in advance. Whelton Network Solutions is an IT service provider. In my personal opinion there's no cons. They have some excellent classes and great teaching dynamic.

It's easy to learn and they explain very well, even for me that my natural language it's portuguese, not english. I had a little concern about the dated material. Some of the courses on the course list date back to As long as the material is frequently updated as it relates to the topics in the training, then I think it would be a great resource. You can buy access to their archive or buy an archive server for on-site and use it to train unlimited times, all users.

Take a look at budget spent each year on training vs cost of x licenses to train on unlimited things. Best training videos I've seen so far, good amount of information from professionals, dynamic and no annoying "yyyy" pauses when talking.

They also include labs instructions and files so you can build and test the network. All other training videos I have seen are more or less boring.

I'm more of a fan of pluralsight but like the others have said, there are no downs. It's a very nice little setup. I find cbtnuggets to be way too expensive. Pluralsight gets my vote too. Great content and price. Also some of the lecturers from cbtnuggets are now with pluralsight so that's great!

Our company has a subscription and I like all it brings to the table, web-based training, transender practice exams, and convenience. They seem expensive compared to others and I passed my MTA just using the book.

While I haven't used CBT myself.

I have used Pluralsight quite a bit and every year around December they have a significant discount on their membership. I will be going after a few specific ones soon, but so far I haven't taken anything more than practice tests. I have gone through many of their courses though MSCE, several programming ones such as c-sharp and python, as well as some cisco and vmware paths.

I've used it more or less for my own personal education. Its been a year or two since I trialed CBT nuggets and pluralsight, but I like pluralsight better for the way the teachers were. Some courses you may like the teacher of one site better than another. I have been liking Udemy far more than both CBT nuggets and pluralsight though.

At least with Udemy its one time charge. Over time its better for me. If the company pays for it, CBT Nuggets is a good place for "breadth" and some "depth", same with Pluralsight, I imagine.

Sign In Register. May in General Certification. I currently am subscribed to ITPro. TV I think because I wanted to practice with Transcender for a previous cert.

A lot of people suggest CBT Nuggets and was wondering is their content better? What do you prefer? May Is there a particular course that you are looking into? Well I now have to get a Microsoft cert for work and saw the course was only 10 hours compared to ITPro which I like the concept behind ITPro but sometimes it's just annoying to watch. I'd request a trial before buying What about Pluralsight? CBT Nuggets are more straight forward to the topic.

ITProTV is cool, but their videos are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. I'm more prone to watch 6 ten minute videos than one 30 minute video, so it just wasn't for me.

I got it because of Transcender too, but now that it sold to Kaplan I don't think the practice tests are as hard. That to me is a concern. I ordered Boson so I could compare the test questions to Kaplan. If there's a big difference I may just cancel ITPro. It's been good but now I have other options for training through work. Give me a break, no offense. CBT Nuggets will not prepare you to pass on any exams. When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened.
